Hello, and welcome to the Death Chants archive.

Death Chants is the name of an "experimental folk band" that was formed in March of 2005 by Paul Grimes, Rafi Bookstaber and Michael Knight; Alison Stout joined two months later. At that point, we all lived with our parents in Washington DC and Maryland. We created our music by improvising and recorded extensively but spent much more of our time just hanging out, driving around listening to music, walking near the Potomac river, and eating.

After Rafi and Paul moved to Philadelphia in the fall of 2006, Death Chants was superseded by smaller musical units, which you can read about on the "Other Projects" page.

The "Recordings" page has a full discography and mp3s for you to download. Thanks for being here. Thanks for taking an interest in our music!
-Alison
